The Red Rocks Amphitheater is located near Morrison, Colorado in the US. It is without a doubt one of the best arenas in the world.
Opened in 1906, it is perhaps one of the most recognizable venues ever created. The sound of the music in that venue is out of this world.
Below, we’ll look at how it has always been and still remains in the world-class category of music venues.
The Red Rocks Amphitheater
First of all, it’s just ridiculously good.
Getting lost in the day’s events and only noticing performance at The Red Rocks amphitheater is an experience of a lifetime. The early evenings as the sun is setting are breathtaking. The sunlight appears to throw a reddish glow on the scenic red rocks. We also love that only 9,000 people can go into the venue, which makes it less stuffy.
There aren’t many other reasons we need to give you. It’s a sort of you-need-to-be-there to understand its situation. So many of the greats have performed there—Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Wonder, Bruce Springsteen, and so many more brought onto the stage through the Red Rocks Hall of Fame, a yearly event bringing the biggest names to make their mark on the venue.
The history of Red Rocks is intimately tied to great concerts (we had to keep talking about them!).
The Beatles in the 1960s and later the U2 concert “Under a Blood Red Sky” are some examples that established Red Rocks as a place that every music lover has to see. The next event is on November 14th, 2024, as critically acclaimed DJ Armin van Buuren takes to the stage. The dance/electronic DJ will put on a massive rave with tickets still available.
New Zealand’s Iconic Venues
America has incredible venues, but New Zealand does it better.
The Spark Arena in Auckland is one of the most iconic. Opened in 2007 and located near Quay Park, Parnell, some of the more recent biggest names have played at The Spark Arena.
Beyoncé, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Taylor Swift, P!nk, and Metallica are some of the biggest names to mention.
Yes, you might argue it isn’t the same historic vibe as the Red Rocks, but that’s not what a music venue is about; it’s the music. The type of California curtain used in this venue and the construction’s emphasis on acoustics and sightlines designed to suit any performance make it a favorite. In an age where everything from music to online casino events are being successfully hosted online, it’s still good to see a venue that knows how to draw a crowd – and that New Zealand knows how to set a high bar whether it’s in a virtual space or a physical one.
Other World-Class Music Venues
Even though Red Rocks has history and New Zealand has endless venues, there are some other iconic venues from across the globe we have to speak about.
For example, in Sydney, Australia, there is the Sydney Opera House, which is famous for its design and sound quality and the incredible opera (and normal) music performances.
Or there’s the Royal Albert Hall in London, which is popular with the biggest performers and entertainers because of its high-end architecture and great acoustics.
Another example is the Hollywood Bowl, in Los Angeles. Like the Red Rocks Amphitheatre, it has a naturally amphitheater-shaped backdrop and a massive stage for performances.
The Red Rocks Amphitheatre is an incredible experience. If you can ever get tickets to an event there, it’s well worth seeing. If not, there are so many other iconic venues you could visit across the globe. And yes, we said it’s more about the music, but until you’re in a venue that blows your mind, you won’t realize how much of an enhanced experience it gives.
